Pastor Jerry, Avoro, Lakobob Miri & John & Selina Allen - lunch in Port Moresby just last week

…acquaint you with Jerry Miri, the man who will be my national co-worker in Ihu as he and his family will need your prayers too! …Lately led two souls to Christ!

     We have done a LOT of traveling these past two months! That is not exactly anything “new” in our deputation experience; and, as in the past, we have continued to have wonderful meetings with excellent opportunites to share God’s burden for the Orokolo of PNG. We were in three mission conferences and numerous other meetings. We have been taken on by several churches, one doubled our support, and we are currently one church away from being at 40%! In a church where we just “dropped in”, the pastor and folks treated us like honored guests, gave me a tie and Trina a purse (filled with goodies), gave us a love offering, and 10 minutes to introduce ourselves and share our burden! Then the pastor asked me when I would be in the area again and the next day emailed me two dates to choose from for a meeting! They also invited us to look around the mission closet. Trina picked up thank you notes, commenting on how we always needed more of these, as we had so much for which to be thankful!

     With the upcoming holidays falling on Sundays, we are basically on an “imposed” vacation. There is no way even an excited misionary to Papua New Guinea could successfully compete for a service against a grandchild in an angel costume at a Christmas program. J We have a pretty full schedule the first couple months of the new year and are looking to fill in our March calendar in Texas and make a deputation trip up to Alaska in the spring.

The Village of Ihu, PNG

     I would like to take some room in this letter to better acquaint you with Jerry Miri, the man who will be my national co-worker in Ihu as he and his family will need your prayers too! Jerry has a great desire to see a Baptist church planted in Ihu and has been praying for several years for a missionary to work with him in reaching the Orokolo and training national pastors. He has had three years of Bible training under missionary John Gray in Kerema. Jerry speaks English, Pidgin, and Orokolo. We had a blast together as he translated for me in the coastal villages. Jerry’s wife, Avoro, is being treated for breast cancer in Port Moresby and responding well to treatment. They have one young son, Lakobob. Before I left the country, I got Jerry a phone that would do email so he could communicate with us. Here are a couple excerpts from his notes:

Hi Muldoons.. We’re  still at port Moresby my wife still on cancer treatment! Here in Moresby am preaching at several churches.. Lately we led two souls to Christ, one was cervical cancer patient a week before her death! now in HEAVEN ..Amen. The other one was a Police man.
