Dear Praying Friends,

It has been three weeks since the surgery, and over all I am healing well. I am still being careful, not lifting anything much heavier than a cup of coffee, but the occasional discomfort is minimal. We returned to Baimuru the end of last week, and began Term 3 Monday. The student families did well in our absence under Pastor Danny’s direction. Classes continued and they all did a good job maintaining the property.

I am sure you all are aware of the El Nino event, impacting the weather in different parts of the world. Baimuru is much dryer than normal, but thankfully, we have had a few rain showers. The student families all have some rain-tank water available for cooking  and drinking. They will need to use the ground water collected in small wells for washing. I don’t miss having  to slog through the mud, but do pray that we continue to  get enough rain to keep school operating. We had a similar weather pattern in 2015, and although the gardens suffered, and we were unable to hold a large graduation/closing program to finish the school year, we were able to continue regular classes.

Our trips out to Port Moresby and Cairns provided many opportunities to share the  gospel! Here are some of the folks you could hold  up in prayer:

Sokas, Tropic Air agent
Donald, Kikori hotel manager
Dr.  Alexander, surgeon
Dr. (Mrs.) Alexander, anesthetist
Melisha, nurse
Dr.  Del, surgeon
Keelan, barber
Dr. Syed, cardiologist
Dr. Wong, anesthetist
Gardener at Treetops

These were people with whom we were either able to share our own salvation testimony, or give at least a short presentation of the gospel. A few, like Keelan and Melisha, actually extended our conversations with questions of their own. Some I may have opportunity in the future to visit with again. I don’t believe for a moment that any of these encounters were a “waste”! God is overseeing the eternal results! Here is an email we received in June:

Hello Wil & Trina, I wanted to thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord in ministering to myself and Esmerald in Phoenix while you were here in 1983. You both shared the gospel, brought us food and prayed for our daughter yet to born.

My pastor today mentioned to remember those who had a great impact on our life, your names came into my mind. I’m  glad you are still alive and well and that I found you on the internet.

Hope you remember.

And here is a Facebook message Trina received today:

Hello! I have news for you! I got a phone call from J__ K___last  week. He announced that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior this past April. He is planning on getting baptized in Lake Michigan August 2. He commented on how all of us witnessed to him back in high school. WHAT A BLESSING THIS NEWS WAS TO ME!!!!!

Give the tract. Share your testimony. Write the Scripture verse in the birthday card. Talk about God’s goodness. Keep praying.  Because GOD IS MIGHTY TO SAVE!!

Still Presenting the Person of Christ,

Wil & Trina
